Source for this exercise: Revenue is money earned from sales. Profit is revenue minus costs. A fictional stall sells 10 items for $8 each and has $50 in total costs. Explain revenue versus profit to a beginner, then ask one practice question using 12 items at the same price and $60 costs. Put the solution after a clear Answer label.
What a useful result looks like
Revenue in the first case is $80; profit is $30. Revenue says what came in from selling; profit accounts for the supplied costs. Practice: revenue is 12 × $8 = $96; profit is $96 − $60 = $36. More sales are not the same as the same increase in profit.
Check the result
Check that the explanation uses total costs, not a cost per item. For your own subject, require the source passage behind the answer.
